Trail Work @ Hickory Ridge

by Noah on March 29, 2010

Volunteers are getting an early start to trail work this spring. A couple of projects at Hickory Ridge are kicked-off, and in full swing. If you are interested in helping, keep watching the forums for upcoming trail days.

North Loop Reroute

A trail reroute project is in progress on the old North Loop of the mountain bike trail. The intent is to remove a section of trail that is shared with the local horse riders, and replace it with a new section of singletrack. The new section is approximately a 1/2 mile long, includes some fast sections through a pine plantation and changing to a flowing section through a mature forest.

Finish Work on Trapper's Loop

The second project is to continue finish work and additional trail sections to complete Trapper’s Loop. On the westside of Trapper’s Loop, the mini excavator was used in the late fall to make the initial bench cut on the trail, leaving approximately 3/4 of a mile of finish work to be done. On the eastside, additional mini excavator work is being scheduled in upcoming weekends in April. See the Events Calendar for more information.  Volunteer trail builders – WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Thanks Bill Z., Noah (and kids), and Steve for your hard work. We have made huge gains on the North Loop Reroute already. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel on this project.
