Annual Members Meeting Recap

by Jereme on March 5, 2014

CORBA_Logo_webCORBA held its Annual Members Meeting Tuesday at the American Legion in Eau Claire.  The 30 attendees had the opportunity to review what CORBA has done in the past year, vote to elect the 2014 Board of Directors and spend some time socializing over beverages at the evening’s end.

2013 was a good year for the organization, as we became an official Chapter of IMBA and had a total of 101 paid memberships, our highest membership number ever!  Several of our board members attended the Upper-Midwest Regional IMBA Summit and a Fat-Bike Access Summit, both in Cable, WI, and we now have 5 members who have received Trail Master training and certification.

CORBA has also been involved in several community events, with a booth at a number of expos, our Reveal the Path movie screening at Micon Cinemas, partnership with UWEC’s Service Learning Program and a place in Eau Claire’s Winter Parade.  We even raised some funds by serving brats at Festival Food’s Brat Barn.

On the trails, CORBA volunteers were hard at work, continuing to build and maintain singletrack at Lowes Creek, Northwest Park, Hickory Ridge and Otter Creek.  Did you know we’re approaching 40 miles of singletrack at those four parks?  And there’s more to come, as CORBA continues to work toward an agreement with Area 178 land managers and is partnering with the Menomonie Area Mountain Bike Association in a proposal to develop a new trail system in Dunn County.

What else?  How about our new mini-excavator, new trail signage at Lowes Creek, end-of-year party, Win-a-Bike, group rides and learn-to-race clinics?

Oh, and don’t forget the races.  The Firecracker, Deer Fly Chase and Powder Keg were all big successes in 2013 and raised a combined $12,300 to go toward trails and club operations.  Thanks to all of our racers and volunteers for making these events happen.

CORBA’s Board of Directors also did a wonderful job in 2013 and deserve a pat on the back.  Thankfully, many of the same faces committed themselves to another year of service in Tuesday’s elections, along with a few new names.  Here is your newly elected CORBA Board of Directors:

President – Dan Deetz
Vice President – Jon Riggs

Trail Marshal – Jay Plummer
Member at Large – Viet Van Dong
Hickory Ridge Liaisons – Noah Michaelsen and Brian Kelley
