About CORBA
The Chippewa Off Road Bike Association (CORBA) is a volunteer based organization dedicated to the promotion of mountain bike opportunities in the Chippewa Valley. CORBA was formed at the end of 2005 after having working together with Eau Claire County on trail development at Lowes Creek County Park in Eau Claire. CORBA put in over 400 volunteer hours during 2005 for trail development in order to build 6 miles of trail at the park. The purpose of our grant request to the Eau Claire Community Foundation was to obtain a DR Power Mower for use by CORBA volunteers for further trail development.
In 2006 CORBA applied for and received non-profit status and is recognized as a 501(c)3 organization through the IRS. All contributions are tax deductible.
CORBA currently works with Eau Claire County Parks and Forestry Department, Chippewa County Forestry Department, the Friends of Hickory Ridge, the City of Altoona and the City of Eau Claire on further trail development.
The trail development relies entirely upon volunteer efforts and all membership dollars are returned to trail improvements. CORBA owns a DR Mower, a rear-tine tiller and Mini-Excavator to assist with trail construction.
In 2005 CORBA helped host the first Firecracker mountain bike race through the WORS series. 2010 will be the 6th year and all race proceeds are used for trail improvements.
The Firecracker will be held on July 11, 2010.
