I did the time trail laps tonight for my second times.

Ski & Eagle – 8min 38sec

Single Track – 8min 58sec

I was feeling a lot better on the Single track and imiproved my time WAY more than I thought I could have…  After doing the single track and getting that low of a time, I was really expecting to improve my Ski trail time too, but I think I am about maxed out on that.  I just got a new bike this week from Terry down at Bike and Sport, I LOVE the full suspension and really enjoy the comfort it provides on the single track!

Sean and I did the TT yesterday for our 3rd time, showing consistent improvement….small….but consistent.  Ended with 8:46 on the Ski Trail and 9:55 on the single track…..we are "shooting" for an 8:30 on the Ski trail and 9:30 on the single track next time!  The trails and weather have been PERFECT this week for riding!

I did the time trial runs this morning:  Ski trails/Eagle, 7:52  16.4 mph  and singletrack/dazed, 9:10  11.1mph.  This will be my official first timed lap for myself, but I will continue to post times for my wife and I when we ride together!  This is a great way to start out a long training ride, and I found it seemed to increase my pace for the rest of the day!!Cool

I tried the time trail laps tonight.  Just myself, no team.

Ski & Eagle – 8min 45sec

Single Track – 10min 5sec

It was fun, I was expecting to do the single track quicker than that and was pretty happy with my ski trail time.  It'll be fun to try them again in a week or so and see if I can improve on that!  There is probably a lot of room for improvement on both of the loops for me, but we'll see!  Cool

that is awesome john!  Yeah, Sean and I are doing this as a "team" effort also.  Great to see your fam did it!  I'm adding it now to the spread sheet.

The personal improvement time trials have been documented after a 2 week period to make some progress.  Still no "other" challengers for this event?????  view results here:

Ben,

Word on the trail is that the Thursday Time Trials went on.  We just don't have any information on it at this time…..perhaps this is due to the focus on the 24 hour race in Wausau this weekend?

I believe there will be another Time Trial tomorrow at Lowes Creek East entrance.  Anybody give the On-Your-Honor self improvement time trial a try?  Get out and give it a try!

the course route for the "Self-Paced" aka "Self-Improvement" aka "On your honor system" time trials is posted here;

You can do this on your own and let me know what your; Time, Avg Speed, and Distance (should be close to the same as ours) and I'll get it on the spreadsheet.

Sounds good.  Iron the kinks out of the system and I'll see you there on Aug 4th.  I can't break away theses next two Thursday's in July.

Sounds like there are two format's.  An ever changing course plus a std lap.  Riggs, it was your idea – detail the lap out for us so we can start recording some times.

No problem Arlen…..I will make a .jpg tonight and post it up.

Hey guys,

I'm not going to do time trials on tuesday nights.  Matt O'Meara e-mailed me the following.  So, we can all do thursday night TT's starting at Lowes Creek.  I'm hoping we can rotate up to NWP too.  I'm excited to just race and not organize!

Craig

Fellow Riders/Racers,

There seems to be enough interest in FINALLY starting up a night where people of all levels and abilities can come out on a regular weekly basis to one of the local parks and ride/race their bikes as fast as they dare on single track mtb trails.  We would like to start doing this every Thur. night but next week is going to be the first and it would be great for everyone to come if possible.  There aren’t many details besides showing up with a bike and having a good time.  I know that I’ve missed some people on this e-mail so forward it on to anyone else who may be interested.

Who:    Anyone who is into riding (all abilities welcome)

What:   You can race anywhere from 1-3 laps.  (each lap will be about 25 minutes long)

When:  Thursday July 21st @ 6pm (be there early to sign in)

Where: EC Expo Center (where the gate entrance leads into Lowes Creek Park)

Feel free to contact me with any questions.  See you next week!

Thursdays would work great for me.

The Tuesday night road ride out of Spring Street would overlap, the same as with the Wednesday night Fairfax ride; so ideally i think we should avoid (or add another night) those two.

I am actually pretty open to any day for time trials at Lowes Creek.  I would like to keep the format for what I am tracking to self improvement.  We could all meet together and then take a few turns doing the runs and document as we complete.  The honor system works just fine also…so if you want to get on the spread sheet, just post on this thread with your times and I will add accordingly.

Course Marking…..I would gladly put some arrows out, supplied by Craig, so it is clear what our path of travel is…..I can also do a sketch of the course and post it online also.

Let's start voting on which days would work best, if we want to attempt doing this in a group situation.

Post up…..

Cool, thanks Jereme.  Every other tuesday to start might be good.  Start Aug 2?  Go through September.  Anybody's has said they will sponsor it.  Water bottles for prizes  I think.  Build it from there.  I raced mtb time trials for years down in Madison and a lot of times different people would mark the courses to mix it up.  Different course every week.  Goal of about a 20 min loop, so not very long.  Use both ski trails and singletrack.

I like Riggs idea too of having a set time trial course that you can work to improve your time on.  Can we put up some sort of small marker to help mark the course for the Rigg's time trial?  Where do we post up for times?
